About Dundas Sports Club – Community Sports Club, Bowls, Dining and Functions in Dundas NSW near Parramatta

Our Story

More than a club.
A local institution.

Since 1962, Dundas Sports Club has been bringing together families, friends, bowlers, entertainers and the wider Western Sydney community.

Dundas Sports Club

Proudly part of Dundas for generations.

Dundas Sports Club has grown from a humble local clubhouse into a welcoming community venue for Dundas, Parramatta and the surrounding suburbs.

Our story stretches back to the early land grants of the area, through the builders and volunteers who shaped the club, and into the modern venue locals know today — a place for bowls, dining, live entertainment, functions and good nights with good people.

We are proud of our history, but even more excited about what the club continues to mean for the community today.

A short history

From local land grant to community gathering place.

The club’s history is tied to the growth of Dundas itself — land, families, builders, bowlers and volunteers all playing a part in shaping the venue we know today.

1792

The early roots

William Wade received a 50-acre land grant in the area, with the land later passing to William Cox in 1801 — the beginning of a long local story.

1877

The Victorian centrepiece

Robert Towns purchased 12 acres and built the Victorian property that would become an important part of the club’s identity.

1959

The club finds its home

After local builders began planning a clubhouse in 1946, the current site was purchased in 1959, with volunteers helping bring the venue to life.

1962

Official opening day

On 16 September 1962, the doors opened as Cumberland Builders’ Bowling and Recreation Club, beginning a new chapter for the local community.
